New Covid-secure Measures at Kirkby Gallery

Kirkby Gallery, The Kirkby Centre

We are thrilled to be welcoming visitors and staff back to Kirkby Gallery. Please note, Prescot Museum remains closed for the time being as it is in use as a Covid testing facility.

Please note, Kirkby Gallery will be closed from 4pm on Friday 11 June while the space is prepared for our exciting new programme of arts classes and activities which will be taking place on site throughout the Summer.

Kirkby Gallery will re-open on Monday 21 June at 10am subject to further announcements.

Following risk assessments and consultation, we have put a number of new measures in place at Kirkby Gallery with the health and safety of everyone in mind, including:

Reduced opening hours (10am – 4pm Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays) with timed slots to ensure the number of visitors is no more than 10 at any one time to allow for social distancing. Booking is recommended, though not necessary, though there may be a need to queue at more popular times.

Staff and visitors are required to wear face coverings (with some exemptions).Visitors will be required to use hand sanitiser provided on entry.

A clearly marked one-way system and strict social distancing will be in place.

Visitors will each have their own separate desk and seat in Kirkby Gallery to ensure everyone has ample space while watching the film in comfort.

Rigorous cleaning protocols will be in place throughout the day, with all seats, desks and high-frequency touch points cleaned and disinfected between timed visiting slots.

Our staff and volunteers have been given additional training, and they will be on hand to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable visit.

Please help us to keep our staff and visitors safe by observing the measures we have in place.  Thank you for your co-operation and support.

In the interim period until Covid measures are further eased, Kirkby Gallery will be showing films in the gallery on the big screen, with a different choice each week:

17, 18 & 21 May – Made on Merseyside

24, 25 & 28 May – Willy Russell: All Around Knowsley

31 May, 1 & 4 June – Willy Russell: Another Aspect, plus a slideshow of his artworks
