EducationUpdates to Displays
Please note, over the next few months, different areas of the museum displays will gradually be replaced and refreshed, so some parts will be cordoned off while work takes place. Prescot Museum will remain open, and there will still be lots on display in the interim, but please bear in mind if you are hoping to see something particular it may not be accessible.

Prescot Museum combines a contemporary space with a traditional museum. Following relocation from Georgian premises to an indoor shopping centre, the museum has retained and enhanced many of its most popular and historically significant displays, giving them a new lease of life and bringing them to a wider audience.

The museum reflects the historical significance of Prescot and the cultural identity of its community. The colourful displays of images and artefacts tell the story of Knowsley and its people – how they lived and where they worked.

Prescot Museum’s collection focuses on local people, businesses and industries such as watchmaking, pottery manufacture, cable making and coal mining. There are over 14,500 objects, a large percentage of which is ephemera and photographs. “Three dimensional” items include tools, costume, domestic items, coins, badges, trophies, architectural fragments, and militaria.

Prescot Museum welcomes donations to the collection relating to the history of the whole of Knowsley.
