Artwork donations

The Friends of Kirkby Gallery & Prescot Museum have made considerable donations to Knowsley Council’s Art Collection, purchasing original pieces from artists that have had solo exhibitions in Kirkby Gallery. These have included works by Willy Russell, Anthony Ratcliffe, Ruth Moilliet and Steve Talbot, to name but a few.

These artworks have been donated with the deliberate agenda to for the purpose of adding to our public collection of art and to share them with the public, so they are actively offered out to schools participating in the Friends of Kirkby Gallery & Prescot Museum school membership scheme.

This means that even during these difficult times, whilst our venues remain closed due to Covid-19 restrictions, 5 Knowsley schools currently have artworks on loan to them for pupils and staff to enjoy, including Meadowfields by Willy Russell, below.

Other resources including Mini Museums and our Little BIG Art Gallery are available free to Friends schools as part of their membership, as well as behind-the-scenes tours of Prescot Museum (when we re-open) and other benefits. FOKGPM also help us to apply for and secure external funding that we would otherwise be ineligible for, which has enabled us to offer all sorts of free creative and cultural workshops for schools and the community.
