Merry Christmas from Prescot Museum & Kirkby Gallery!

Over the festive season, we’re sharing images of wintry artwork, timely objects from Prescot Museum’s collection, and themed pieces of creative writing from our Gallery Scribblers.

The watercolour of a robin, shown above, was painted by Alison Evans, a regular member of Kirkby Gallery’s Wednesday Art Club and sister of artist tutor Gill Cowley – they’re a talented family!

Prescot Museum’s Collection includes a number of these cards from the 1930s, sent to members of the Young Communicants’ Guild of Prescot Parish Church by the Vicar and Mrs Lovett. This example is from 1932.

This beautiful blustery scene is Windy Moor, a felted artwork by Helen Jones. Helen is one of our talented local artists as featured in Crafted 2019, and also a much-valued volunteer at Kirkby Gallery.

Here’s Father Christmas emerging from a fireplace with a sack of toys for all the girls and boys at a Christmas party for the children of British Insulated Cables staff.

This photograph, part of Prescot Museum’s Collection, was taken in the late 1940s.
